I like the division of the work into five acts - but whose idea is that? There are similarities with several musical forms too - theme and variations, rondo, maybe even sonata form.

Nice reflections, thanks. I was getting lonely with no comments of late…:< I wonder if there might be some subterranean correlation with the Mussorgsky piece that the movie is named after?

Sunless (Russian: Без солнца, Bez Solntsa, literally Without Sun) is a song cycle by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky, written in 1874, to poems by Arseny Golenishchev-Kutuzov, a relative of the composer.
